I have some rules for d20 Boxing I was kicking around. How about a d20 Olympics!?
If you're doing a team sport, you could, for example, have groups of players as the 'one character' model and the 'movers and shakers' as individuals. I'm thinking specifically about American Football, where you have a front line, which consists of a bunch of fat lugs that no one wants to play, then a backfield on offense and secondary on defense. If you had four players per side, they could each be quarterback, running back(s), and wide receiver(s), and everyone could control the front line, or something. On defense, you have safeties, corners and linebackers that could fit the PC bill...
I remember a futuristic football game back in the late 80's where your team consisted of various types of robots. The ball was a bomb that exploded if you didn't get a first down within four downs. And your robots actually took damage and had to be carted off the field throughout the game (i.e. if you were carrying the ball when it exploded). I always wanted to make a tabletop version of that game. Anyone remember it?
Cyberball... I play it on MAME all the time.
