anyone interested in d20 sports?

Well it'd be a cheaper alternative to Blood Bowl since there's a few other teams that are non Games Workshop like the Bunnies (sorta like Playboy Bunnies) and the Nuns (definitely need the Hail Mary Pass). It should also help with balance between the races (orcs vs wood elves for example).

Of course a sport in which I can cast magic missle and hack orcs to pieces would be way kewl. Sort of like English Football!

Would anyone be interested in playing a d20 (or more than likely simply OGC) sports game where you build your team's "characters" and play matches against other player's teams using miniautures and a grid (or hex) arena? Your team could gain xp, skills, and feats from matches

Speedball? :)

Jeez. Is Pennsylvania in an anti-magic zone, or something? I do that like pretty much every day.

I have some rules for d20 Boxing I was kicking around. How about a d20 Olympics!?

If you're doing a team sport, you could, for example, have groups of players as the 'one character' model and the 'movers and shakers' as individuals. I'm thinking specifically about American Football, where you have a front line, which consists of a bunch of fat lugs that no one wants to play, then a backfield on offense and secondary on defense. If you had four players per side, they could each be quarterback, running back(s), and wide receiver(s), and everyone could control the front line, or something. On defense, you have safeties, corners and linebackers that could fit the PC bill...

I remember a futuristic football game back in the late 80's where your team consisted of various types of robots. The ball was a bomb that exploded if you didn't get a first down within four downs. And your robots actually took damage and had to be carted off the field throughout the game (i.e. if you were carrying the ball when it exploded). I always wanted to make a tabletop version of that game. Anyone remember it?

Sure I remember that. Forget what it was called, though.

Human Head studios has a setting called Redhust Academy of Magic (which is very cool). And in that setting they have a sport called spellflag.

The rules are here:
http://www.humanhead.com/hhgames/RAM/ram.html#spellflag

You could start with something like that. If you wanted to use the D&D miniatures rules, you'd be a step ahead. Each player would control a whole team, but each player would be represented by a single figure.

There is also the fabulously over the top XCrawl by Pandahead Games. All the best aspects of professional sports and dungeon crawling rolled into one!

I have a mostly complete set of notes for a d20 NBA Basketball game, which I would love to complete and play. Unfortunately, the only person I know who might be even vaguely interested in playing it isn't in my gaming group any longer. :(

Interesting idea, but I don't think I'd enjoy it too much. If I want to play a sport I just go outside. On the other had, if I want to cast a magic missle, hack orcs to pieces or lead an army into battle I can't just go out side.

Move to my neighborhood.
