Wishful thinking or waking nightmare...? :p

Depends on how much sleep I've had :) At least I'm up at 3 am because I just finished playing, not because I'm working on a program...that's for tomorrow night. Anyhow, I'll try to get a room sometime on those last two weekends. Two quick questions:

1) Please post which is worse for you: Saturday or Sunday (I'm assuming Sunday because most people have jobs and we ran pretty late last time).

2) Was there ever an official head count of the last game day? I seem to remember a sign-in sheet. Could someone please post the total number of gamers that attended? I can use that to gauge a head count.

I think Saturday is the day we should schedule for. Last time themselves games didn't run terribly late. But the post game food consumption at Rock-Ola (which was tremendous fun) ran for a good while longer and some folks have sizable commutes to get home.

As far as an official head count, there was a sign up sheet but Mulkhoran wound up with it. He was the one primarily doing the people coordinating. I mostly sent out e-mails, brought the name tags and yelled, "JUSTICE!". IIRC, there were right around 20 people there who we figured out the names of and I think we had a few late drop ins that were unaccounted for. I'd say 25 for a round number.

I don't really want to hog up a bunch of space that we won't wind up using. But I think that we should at least try and get a space like the Walnut Room. We easily accomodated everyone in that room and we could fit ten more people with no problems at all. Personally, I like having everyone in one big room.

So, as far as I'm concerned, NCSUCodeMonkey can go ahead and book one of the last weekends in August. It doesn't really matter which, I don't think.

A few thoughts:

Saturday. Definitely Saturday. I'd rather go home Sunday morning than Sunday night, in my opinion.

As for which Weekend, the weekend that NCSU takes it the lightest on its students is probably best. Some universities give you a week with "kid gloves" before loading you up with work, some hit you hard the very first week, so what works best.

Was to rooms, if the Wlnnut Room was what we used for the first one, it would be perfect. Even if the game day surprised us and doubled in turn-out, we could still probably fit 'em all, because one thing I do remember was that even with the turn-out we had, we spread out pretty far in that room, and still only took up 3/4ths of it. (one table was reserved for bagels and snacks.)

August 23rd, 9am-9pm, Talley Student Center.

The room we have reserved is smaller than the Walnut room, but we can fit three stations of the same size as the Return to the Slave Lord's/Whispering Woodwinds game and more than that if we use smaller table settings. We will also be expanding into any space that should happen to come open.

I know this thread isn't for scheduling games, but I'm going to be out of the country in 8 days so...I'm officially offering to DM. Pregen characters, probably 4-6th level, something out of the Realms most likely, since that's where I spend most of my creative time.

I'll keep in touch till the 20th, then it'll be the white cliffs of Dover for me!

In reading back through the old thread (linked above), I found this little gem from Rel:

Actually, that was Mulkhoran. But it would have been much funnier if I had said it.

I'm an insulin dependant diabetic, you see. Years ago, shortly after I was diagnosed as diabetic (around age 21), Speaks With Stone and I were roommates for a couple of years. Speaks, whom I've known since I was 6, had a hard time remembering my new dietary requirements. It was a rare week that went by where he wouldn't be sitting sleepily sitting on the couch on a weekend morning, devouring a box of Krispy Kremes.

"Rel, want a doughnut?"

"Since that would send my blood-sugar through the roof and could eventually lead to me going blind, impotent and possibly requiring amputation of my extremities, I'll pass, thanks."

"Oh, dude! I'm so sorry! I forgot again! I'm so sorry!"

We repeated that scene about once a week for two years. It's been ten years now since then and he only forgets once a month or so. He's getting better.

So, indeed, someone should bring doughnuts. It won't be me. It'll probably be Speaks With Stone. And he'll probably offer me one.

Bastard.

Remind me to kill his character for that one. Mimic shaped like a doughnut should do it.

Actually, that was Mulkhoran.
That's what I said. [Ignore the "edited" notice at the bottom of that post.]

Donuts do that? I was always told it was something else. :0)

As for the Game Day. I'll be there again. I'll want to play a game this time.

I can make that. Although it will really depend on whether or not Mulkhoran can make it, since he would be the one making with the transportation.
