My girlfriend had Hodgkin’s (a lymphoma) a few years ago and underwent Chemo & Radio.

Chemo kick’s your ar5e something shocking. She had it every 2 weeks and it really sapped her. But she lived, which without the Chemo & the Radiotherapy she wouldn’t have done.

I’m no scientist, but as I understand it the general theory behind chemo is it’s toxic to you and kills fast-growing cells. Cancer cells with their malignant nature are fast growing cells. They die, along with the rest of your fast growing cells – white blood cells, hair growth cells etc.

Heck I ‘somehow’ managed to come into contact with her the day after she had chemo and some of it leeched into me. I felt sick and a bit dizzy for a couple of days.

(tip – no matter how darn cute they are don’t submit to their wiley ways soon after cyto-toxins have been placed in a loved ones system. The short term happy ain’t worth the next few days sickness.) It did give me a tiny insight into what it must have been like for her though.

Good luck to your mum, sorry to say it but it sounds like she needs a bit of luck and a :):):):)e load of determination.

Heh. My wife and I were warned not get "friendly" after her chemo sessions.

I know some of the chemicals my wife uses in chemo-treatments for animals are extremely toxic. As in "if you don't hit the vein when injecting it, you may kill the animal" kind of toxic. But somehow, the bloodstream can handle it, and it helps the animal on the whole.

Biology is freaky that way.
