Anyone know latin?

Oh, you came back! :)

Anybody know of any message boards where people get together to talk about medieval crop yields and other crazy-in-the-details RPG stuff?

It's quite possible, but it makes the passage essentially useless as evidence for crop yields since this reading requires a prior assumption of a yield value.
Yeah, that's true. I do have a prior assumption too, of course. Other records from similar areas a century or two later.

I can't figure out the oats yields at all, though. Very low, no matter how I've looked at it. I think a decent wheat yield in a year with a poor oats yield is a signal of a certain weather pattern, but I can't remember anything about that. My friend the farmer moved on a few years ago, now I've got no one I can phone at 3 a.m. to ask.

...because 3 a.m. is when all my questions seem most important, of course.

soc.history.medieval is one, but like most of usenet these days, it's now 80% sociopathic nutjobs and spammers.

I'm 100% sure about the oats - that definitely is saying that the oat yield didn't even cover the seed.

Let's see, I think I've got this whole Latiny thing down. So...you're telling me to "put out the fire with hong?"

I think hong would object.
