Just looking for a good prestige class for a paladin. Right now I am 4th lvl, but I want to have one in mind now for the future in case i need to meet certain requirements.

Templar, Defenders of the Faith, requires weapon focus in your deity's favored weapon, endurance, and umm... something else I think, plus 8 ranks in knowledge religion. Damn good class, gets fort and will, fighter BAB, more smites, bonus feats, damage reduction, and a good fightery spell list, and best of all, you can take it at level 6.

Hospitaler, also Defenders of the Faith, requires Mounted Combat, Ride By Attack, and some other riding feat I think. Don't remember what the level restriction is, but it's something around 7 or 8 I believe. Ignore most of what it says in the book, it has been errataed fairly heavily. Adds hospitaler level -2 to your turn undead effective cleric level. Adds to lay on hands, gets two domains and +1 caster level per level. Fighter BAB, bonus feats... all to the good.

Those are the only two WoTC prestige classes that work for paladins. There are other ones paladins can take, but their abilities aren't aimed towards paladins.

You can do a search on this topic. It has come up many, many times. Souljourner's response is the standard answer, however.

Or you can just stay Paladin. Many people feel that Paladin is just like a PRC.

Personally, I'd prefer to stay a Paladin, since your smites increase, your mount increase, your ability with a Holy Avenger increases, your spellcasting increases, etc.. None of the PRCs will increase your mount's survivability, which means that if you multiclass, your mount is going to die.

didn't we just do this?
It'd be a shame to re-hash the same discussion....

There IS no good WotC Paladin PrC, depending on what Paladin abilities you think are crucial.
The Mithral Knight PrC (D20) is the closest.

Where can I get the information for a Mithral Knight? What book is it in?

If you are playing in a hack and slash game, the book of the exalted has a PRC called "Fist of Raziel." The Fist of Raziel gets a ton of smites and all kinds of extra bonuses when they smite some evil creature.
