Anyone know what's up with RPGNow?

I dropped by the site to see how my Sinister Adventures' Indulgences were doing there and the site was replaced by a totally different site...weird.

Anyone know what's up?

Hmmm...whenever I go to RPGNow there is this weird message to "reorder this domain" or "backorder this domain" and a picture from Halo it looks like. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

EDIT: Ha! It works now! The domain name is changed to the above right? I was typing in "www.rpgnow.com" and it was taking me somewhere else. Also, when I googled it, the link took me to the above mentioned "reorder this domain" type page.

I'm getting the same. Maybe OBS let it lapse. drivethrurpg.com still works.

I'm guessing they let it lapse but managed to get it back from whoever snatched it up. But that's just a guess.

According to WHOIS, it was just updated today (May 9) and expires next May 9. Current contact is someone with a rpgshop.com email, so it looks like the original people own it now. However, is also says that it was originally purchased May 3, 2000. Since these go on yearly cycles, I'm guessing it lapsed May 3rd, someone else snatched it up, and then RPGNow got it back and updated it today. So it would take a bit to propagate back out if it is getting set back. But DNS propagation is a pain in the butt, drawn out process so it'll be sporadic and based on your local ISP for the next couple days I imagine.

They got whatever was troubling the site fixed very quickly, apparently.


I should mention, since sometimes people have update reminders turned off, for those who have picked up Small Keep, that it has been updated with all new artwork from Steve Muchow of MythMerchant. (Check out the preview!)
