Me too. I am especially interested to see if the GSL allows the development of applications or computer games based on the 4e ruleset.

Scott mentioned they wanted to reduce the need to update it too often, so they were putting in as much as possible now. They wouldn't therefore have revision bloat in the document. I'm hoping this is a sign that not only the core will be included, but other material as well which will be a welcome departure from what they did in the 3e SRD.

Is the SRD like the old one with all of the rules in it or is it just a reference to the rulebooks with the specific things that could be used? I was under the impression that the SRD would be very short and easy to update with no rules. Is that still the case?

Nobody knows. The FAQ says one thing, the WotC poster another... It seems we must wait.

But as far as I understood them, you can't play the game only by using the SRD anymore.

From what I've heard, yes, it will just be for companies who intend to publish compatible products, and it will offer little to no use for the general gamer looking for a way to get into 4e without the books.

As I understand it, they're only using terms and tables from the core books, but leaving everything else out of the SRD. So it will be very stripped down compared to the 3e SRD. For example, I imagine they'd include the term grapple, but not the rules for how it worked. You'd be free to use the mechanic and term in a product, of course.

Scott mentioned that the SRD was something like 72 pages long.

I was hoping to use things like the Shadowfell and Feywild in some stuff. And the default deities.

But I'm not sure they will release this in the SRD. Would have been nice to all play in a default setting.
