Anyone know why the Dragonlance logo changed?

Well, that was fun

I just discovered the existence of the Lost Chronicles last weekend. Bought them off eBay. How I never knew they existed, I don't know, but the original Chronicles and Legends were my AD&D gateway novels. I wouldn't be doing what I do but for those books.

Anyway. The logo changed. To a worse one. Anyone know why? Those Lost Chronicles do not look good placed in order with my Chronicles.

(Glad I bought them though; rejoining those characters again in a non-prelude/flashback way is great!)

Dragonlance: Fifth Age was the change-over point, if memory serves. The post Dragons of Summer Flame world got a new game via the new SAGA system and thus a new logo.

The new logo was kept through the 3.x era on Sovereign Press/Margaret Weis Productions game products and WotC's continuation of the novel line.

It was indeed a Fifth Age change. The dragon in the terrible new logo is Malystryx, who was a major player in that setting but has been dead since 2002. It doesn't look like we're getting the old logo back, regrettably.
