D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

If having the same Vestige bound every day is something every character will want then we have done something wrong. I can see specific builds wanting permanent vestiges, but like multiclass feats, they shouldn't be for everyone.

Also, specialising in specific vestiges sounds interesting, but may defeat the object of the system: versatility.

Lord Kiwi,

Even if there's 5,000 Vestiges to choose from, people are still usually gonna have one or two common ones they're most frequently going to choose though. Also, 5 feats is kind of a lot, even with additionally granted feats in 4e.

Maybe have one feat reduce the penalty by 25% which can be taken up to two times [or x4 if we wish to go that way] and a separate feat that reduces the check by 50% for one Vestige [maybe some additional minor ability]. This allows both options: those who desire versatility and those who desire specializing.

As for the math, worst case scenario, you could just add an extra line into the Vestige to take into consideration that people are going to take several of the feats and calculate the % cost beforehand.

Like: Vestige Cost: 5,000gp.
One Feat: 4,000gp. Two Feat: 3,000gp. Three Feat: 2,000gp. Four Feat: 1,000gp.

Also, 5 feats is kind of a lot, even with additionally granted feats in 4e.
You know what, I've added the prices for each ritual into the Wiki, by level, and I think in retrospect you're probably right, making single vestiges free instead of all of them is the way to go. We could roll it into the existing feats though... one free vestige per feat?

You could do 4 feats which each reduce price by 20% and give a free vestige, so if you take all 4 you pay nothing for those 4 and only pay 20% of the cost for any others.

Alright, so what does everyone think about the GP costs? Seem okay to everyone? I really just wrote in what seemed to work, and I'm strangely comfortable with how the numbers look. Any concerns?

What if instead of setting the cost in stone and then tying the reduction to feats, (really I think we have PLENTY of feats for a subsystem already) we tied the cost reduction to your diplomacy check? If you make a good pact the cost is cut by 1/3 or even 1/2. Then for every 5 points you beat the good pact DC by the cost is reduced another 10 - 25%. Since the math this way can get a bit complex we provide it in a heading for players.

This way, you can get cheap pacts even without the Augmented Pacts feat, but also if you do have the feat you are getting cheaper AND more powerful pacts.

Have you read the Bind Vestige ritual? It's pretty much summarily explained within. If you want more information check out the Pact Magic section of the 3.5 book Tome of Magic.

(The Bind Vestige ritual is something we are developing ourselves based on Tome of Magic's mechanics and is located on the wiki or near the top of page 2 in this thread.)

Thank you :D
