I keep going back to this and wanting to run a few games (the core version). Anyone else playing it? Suggestions/comments welcome. I'm thinking of using it for a 'mini' campaign for a few old friends.

If you've played the Moldvay/Cook edit of D&D then you've played SWORDS & WIZARDRY. That's really about it. Pretty much the same gotchas, bugs, perks and cool stuff. Drop your Karamekios or Ylarum or just about anywhere in the Known World campaign right in and rock on.
Actually I find S&W to be closer to the OD&D rules ( 3 classes, races and classes separate) than to Molvay basic. Labyrinth Lord does Moldvay/Cook/Marsh more closely IMHO.
Either way it looks like a fine system for adventuring in the Known World as mentioned.
Yeah, I've run LL for my son and his friends and had a blast with it (I still say the Moldvay Basic set was the clearest, most concise version of D&D ever produced, a masterpiece. What Goblinoid Games did with LL is nothing short of astounding. I've just had a burr up my butt to run a true OD&D campaign at some point and thought S&W would be a good start as none of the other players would have the three booklet set.
