Got mine today.

I'm surprised... bordering on dismayed... at the proportion of the issue that is devoted to Bas Lag stuff. Some of it's interesting. But in the final analysis, it really diverges enough from typical D&D material I don't see getting much direct use from those sections in my game.

So is the idea that we'll be running straight-up D&D in this setting, or just borrowing elements and putting them in our own campaigns? Because I see Bas Lag as more of a funky d20 Modern or True 20 setting...

The Princes of Elemental Good (by Kevin Baase and Eric Jansing, sound familiar? :) ) - Seek the aid of the Elemental Planes' goodly archomentals. Ben Hadar, Chan, Sunnis, and Zaman Rul oppose the wicked plots and wanton destruction of the Princes of Elemental Evil.

you know what... that does sound familiar for some reason. ;)

Inquisitor (exists to torture victims and extract information)

Skuz (drowned undead, tries to drag victims underwater)

hey cool, two old favorites of mine! :)

well, that does at least explain why paizo turned us down for an update on them... ;)

Nice, the Good Archomentals, now to finally run an Archomental Campaign involving those 8 (er, 9, counting the ice dude). I know I'm being greedy when I say this but...the evil archomentals of the other inner planes would be nice...heh

hope you like the new one - did you like the first one? :) i've been contemplating something on the lesser elemental lords, but we need to figure out a good way to present them, since they seem perhaps less "significant" than the archomentals.

I'm looking forward to seeing how much of this article actually sees print... it gets a little naughty in places...

i'm feeling the same way with the good archos article. not for any naughtiness (don't think we had any of which to speak), but we did get a bit... wordy with this one. :)

Oh well. I was hoping for a different demon prince. I'll probably give this one a pass. Sucks that the only part of Dragon I buy the magazine for is every 4 months. Saves me money though.

if it's any consolation, i'm 80% positive that the next one will be Demogorgon, to coincide with the Savage Tide AP. :)

That'd really make the most sense. The materials seen so far imply that if the PCs do a bad job, they'll have to face Demogorgon at full power, which'd be perfect for the next Demonomicon to cover.

Loved the first one, though my only gripe is simply I wish they were more powerful than Primal Elementals from the ELH since they deserve to be. But then again, I like my super big baddies really super big baddies that can only be done in if my players decide to push the 20th level boundary. I can easily apply the Paragon template and triple their HD :D Overall, great article. Can't wait for this one coming up.

This means my copy should be in Monday.....

holiday.

This means my copy should be in Tuesday. Yeah! The Warforged catches my attention. In my current Eberron game the group is about to learn House Cannith has taken shop to the planes and MASS producing Warforged there. Good opertunity to introduce new versions/varieties of warforged.

I'm guessing that they expect you to actually use the world of Bas-Lag rather than bits and pieces of it.

Luckily for me, when my last campaign ended my group said, "maybe we should do an urban adventure next time. Something really different."

I just looked at the blurb about 352 in 351 and smiled.

So my group is gonna be running a full Bas-Lag campaign...assuming that the magazine ever comes. (This three day weekend of almost no mail is killing me.)

I can thank enworld (Shemy) and Dragon for getting me interest in China Mieville's Perdido Street Station.

Several months ago someone posted that Perdido Street Station would be covered in a Dragon magazine. I knew nothing about China Mieville's work and there were so many glowing remarks about it here at enworld, people were anxious for the article to be in Dragon, I decided to add it to my Christmas list. I didn't get it, but I bought it right after with money I got for Christmas.

I love Perdido Street Station and can't wait to start The Scar.

So thank you Enworld and Dragon Magazine for introducing me to another good author!
