do creatures get AoO vs Invis opponents if they cant see or hear them moving through there threatend area, or do they get on but must choose a space randomly

I believe there's a sage ruling that they do indeed get an aoo. I'm not sure I agree with that one (and I understand the reasoning). But even if you do get one, you'll have a 50% miss chance at the least, and probably have to pick which square to attack as well. (Though I'm not sure what the ruling is on that.)

I've always played it that they must make a Listen Check with a DC 20 +(targets Move Silently roll) in order to take an AoO.

If you beat there move silently roll, you know they are there, but you don't know which square unless you beat it by 20.

This is covered in the Invisibility entry on page 78 of the DMG.

Or an equally difficult Spot check, IMC.

Do you always use the DC 20+(target's Move Silently roll) in order to get an AoO? If the target is spellcasting within a threatened square, for example, the DC to detect it is 0 (DMG pg.78 again). So to pinpoint the square, it would require only a Listen check of DC 20.

Also according to DMG p78, they only get their Move Silently roll outside combat. During combat, the Listen DC is always 0 + 1 per 10' + 20 to pinpoint square.

I consider that DC 0 to be for hearing actual fighting or spellcasting: chanting, sword on sword, sword on armor, etc.

I still let someone try to Move Silently when they are moving past someone and would otherwise provoke an AoO.

No, I only use it for trying to avoid AoO's related to movement .

There is obviously no Move Silently roll when they aren't moving.

If you can't see them, I don't see how you can tell that they've momentarily dropped their guard. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

If half cover prevents AoO's, I think that half concealment should as well. Just my opinion (and my house rule now, I guess). After all, even 10% concealment cancels sneak attacks!
