Compounding factors.

1. Mess of a trilogy
2. The Last Jedi
3. Poor character development

I don't think Star Wars fatigue holds up. MCU dies 2-3 movies a year, people like Mandalorian.

Disney messed this trilogy up. They may have actually lost money overall on Star Wars.

Fans were enthusiastic. First two movies made 3 billion dollars.

Next 3 will likely get around 2.7.

Problem is they've around 5.5+ billion dollars on it (4 billion to buy, 1 billion Galaxy's edge, hundreds of millions on marketing).

No dude. They did not lose money overall on Star Wars.

And an aside to the mini-cats discussion.

I found it to be terrible. The only movie I have hated more was Precious.

About Cats...

I have had to have several discussions of the following form...

Them: Cats was horrible! Worst hours of my life ever!
Me: But... you don't like Broadway musicals....
Them: No, I don't.
Me: And... you don't even like cats, the animals, themselves. You think they are all sociopathic jerks.
Them: That's correct.
Me: So... why did you think you'd like this show? If you were allergic to fish, would you complain about how bad anchovy pizza is?

Note to self:

1. Acquire rights to Precious.

2. Run it through the new CATS cgi.*

3. ????

4. PROFIT!

*This has to be a thing. Just imagine taking any film, or ... EVERY film, and being able to change all the actors into better, Cats versions of themselves. First test- the scene from Supertroopers.

That's Diabolical. Now I fear that Deep Faking as Cats is going to be a thing. shiver

To be fair, I did like the broadway musical for Cats. This move just didn't do it for me though.

I did just watch 1917 last night. Pretty good!
