Appleseed trailer

I've always been kinda of so-so on the movement to toon shaded 3-d graphics. Games like Jetgrind-Radio showed us that it could look pretty cool. But sometimes it comes out with mixed results. I actually saw a bit of this upcoming Appleseed at some company's table at the SanDiego ComicCon this last summer. I thought the company was showing off that it was to be distributing the video in the U.S. next year or something. I don't think they were. I think they just had a copy of the trailer to run at the table, get people's appetite to buy their toys or whatever.

Anyways....this looks so awesome. Some of the best 3-D toon shaded stuff I've seen to date. I'm glad we don't have too long a wait. I've been a big fan of the Appleseed comic since the late 80's (when they started showing up on U.S. comic book store shelves).

Now if only the U.S. would let their own animation talent let loose. But unfortunately, they're still being made to draw cute talking bears. :(

Very cool. I have never seen cel-shaded CG animation before other than in certain videogames. I must admit it looks very cool.

At the end of the trailer she says in Japanese: "If the battle is over, I want to be a mom."

I have seen the original Appleseed anime movie and I'm not really sure what that is a reference too. I never read the manga though, so it could be explained there. I guess she likes kids. :)

Wow. Very nice. I didn't even realize they were going to do some more Appleseed. Maybe we'll get new collections of the manga in the digest style. I never did get all of the manga. :)

Now excuse me while I look for my jaw... I think it's on the floor somewhere..

HAving seen the original Appleseed OAV and not really caring for it (especially having read the manga) this looks like it's going to be very good. One of the first anime features in years that I'm actually looking forward to.

No to find out who's getting domestic distro rights...
