Apply Armour Check Penalty to REF save... why not?

Hey all

Was thinking about applying Armour Check Penalty to reflex saves. The justification would be that it makes sense to me that armour would slow you down and and also it penalises the armoured tank type character/rewards the light armour brigade -my current character is an orc tank, so it's not for personal gain ;)

Any thoughts?

i few weeks ago i had a thread about replacing armors max dex and acp with a dex penalty. This would lower the reflex save.

All players of fighter types would automatically have their pc migrate over to light armour, roll new non-fighter characters or reject the dm. Otoh if the players want a light armour only campaign then you're alright, so this question only needs to be asked of them.

No reason not to, but one would think that someone wearing armor could maneuver in a manner that allowed the armor to take the brunt of the attack. It's a nice compensation for the reduced mobility.

Fighters already have horrible reflex saves, no need to make 'em worse. 'sides, that full plate might provide a spot of cover.

And max dex to AC is just that; the maximum amount of your dexterity bonus you can apply to AC. You still apply your full DEX to saves, skill checks (though that ACP is going to hurt), and anything other than AC.

No, max dex limit the Dex bonus to reflex save too, and i would say reflexive skills too.

No, Max Dex affects Armor Class only:

Maximum Dex Bonus: This number is the maximum Dexterity bonus to AC that this type of armor allows. Heavier armors limit mobility, reducing the wearer’s ability to dodge blows. This restriction doesn’t affect any other Dexterity-related abilities.

A reflex save definitely involves dodging, hence the Dex bonus to it.

But a reflex save also involves cover: the better the cover behind which you are, the less the chance to be fully hurt by a Fireball.

You can imagine that a bigger armor both hampers your dodging and gives you a sort of cover. Let's imagine that the amounts of these two effects are about the same for each armor, and here's a possible explanation why armor does not affect reflex ST overall. :)
