I was surprised this thread made it to page 2 before someone recommended it for Battlemaster.
You could take the Psionic Wild Talent Feat on your battlemaster.

On my survey feedback I suggested a "Psionic spellcaster" feat. This feat (with a psionic talent die prerequisite) would add a list of psionic spells to your class list - you don't know them automatically, but they count as class spells to you. Because who doesn't want to replace their ranger's spells with psionics?

Obviously the best psychic ranger will be the psychic animal companion. Slightly more seriously, the psychic die could determine how many actions the AC could do on its own without being commanded each round (1= move, 2=move and a reaction, 3=move, a reaction, and an action, 4=move, a reaction, multiattack [2], etc.--I would limit this to d6). So if the BM's player wants the AC to attack, and only roles a 1, he/she has to use the BM's action, but if they roll a 4, then the BM is free to stab or shoot the enemy with his/her action.
