April submissions to the online Dragon & Dungeon

Remember that Perkins article last month: they're moving away from Points of Light this year, and focussing future magazine content on Forgotten Realms (and other legacy settings).

I know they have a long lead-in for submissions, but this probably affects queries for this window.

... and by "other legacy settings" he meant "more Forgotten Realms."

Seriously, I am getting sick of the FR support. The only other setting to get any mention outside of the monthly "Eye On" articles is Kara-Tur, which was ret-conned to be part of the Realms. I mean, do we really need a theme for being a clone of Halaster? Is that such a common character archetype that we need a theme just for it, as opposed to, you know, anything else? Like a Pirate theme, or a Far-Realm Touched theme? Or more than a single Eberron theme?

Bleck.

Anyway, back on topic, I have to know, what exactly was the commentary on IP theft you were trying to make RangerWickett?

The drinking adventure was originally a submission for Pathfinder's open call, where they only gave you two requirements. The title was "Flight of the Red Raven," and it had to involve an overland chase.

So, upon brainstorming with a friend and recalling that most good beers are named after animals, I came up with a plot where a villain steals the secret recipe for Red Raven beer.

It was also a commentary on intellectual property theft.
Brilliant, a villain who the players will hate right away. "He- he steals beer?!?"

(Though now that you mention it, I did neglect to have any "hangover"-inspired scenes. That's obviously why it was rejected.
Or you blacked out after writing them...j/k

Greg Bilsland just posted an article that anyone considering submitting should check out (it's accessible to anyone, not just DDi subscribers).

Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Article (Sweet Rejection)

Some highlights:

* They're looking for these kinds of articles: Class Acts, Winning Races, Bazaar of the bizarre, Character Themes, Unearthed Arcana, History Check, Domains of Dread, Demonomicon, Court of Stars, and Codex of Betrayal.

* They're also interested in these specific topics/themes:
Dragonlance
Warfare
Constructs and artifice
Aerial encounters
Fey
Gygax
A Planescape adventure

Good luck to everyone submitting :) Er...unless you're submitting for that Planescape adventure, in which case "Taste my nightmare tracks, you sodding sod!" :p

I actually have a couple of good ideas i've almost finished designing.
~13th Dragonmark..... Hehe*
~Rangers that use traps....
But alas it'll probably get rejected then it'll just be free material on Enworld.
;)

That DOES NOT involve becoming a fallen-angel in any way :P.

@ Quickleaf, Thanks for the tips! I was just going to collect my thoughts today and I found the perfect thread.

Also don't be discouraged if you don't get a response quick.
I literally got my reponse 58 days after the window closed.
When they say 60 days THEY MEAN SIXTY DAYS.

I've primarily written adventures lately. Baba Yaga's Dancing Hut, plus three others in the pipe.

So, it seems WotC likes me for adventures. I've got a few proposals worked up and am exploring a few other ideas.

That said, I'd like to do some more PC-oriented stuff (Winning Races, Class Acts, Character Themes, etc.). I've worked up a character theme proposal, and am exploring some other ideas.

Chime in, everyone. Are you hard at work on proposals?

Just pitched two article ideas.

A Planescape adventure idea brewing as well in the next day or two (I don't care what edition it is, it's Planescape... ;))

Pitched 8 articles and an adventure, woot! That's probably all I'm allowed to say until rejection, lol, but figure I'd post it anyway.
