Arcane Trickster

That thread is a bit outdated, no?

A pretty good way to go Arcane Trickster is Rogue 1 / Spellthief 1 / Wizard 5 / Arcane Trickster.

Sorcerer, while it seems cool and fitting, does not work nearly as well as Wizard as a spellcasting class for the Arcane Trickster.

Good feats include Practiced Spellcaster, Empower Spell, Sudden Maximize, Arcane Strike (for a more melee oriented character), and/or Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot (useful for bow and ray), Rapid Shot (for a more ranged oriented character).

I'd probably go Rog1/Wiz4/DaggerspellMage2/ArcaneTrickster10/Archmage3.

You might also consider the possibility of Magelord in later levels (from Unapproachable East). It's an interesting PRC that fits well witht he Arcane Trickster theme.

There is also a divine version of a trickster in Races of Stone that I think is a fun and interesting class. It's called the Divine Prankster.

You need 3 levels of Daggerspell Mage, tho. And you need some feats to qualify, but TWF isn't the worst thing to have, so that's ok. WF is a bit of a downside, I don't think one would normally choose that feat.

I think Spellthief fits better thematically, tho, and the ability to steal 1st level spells is still nice, but so is the ability to turn some energy damage into slashing damage. :)

Many of those are on my list as well, but may I also suggest Dive for Cover? Given the likely hp situation of an Arcane Trickster, two chances for evasion to kick in can be a very good thing!

My particular AT also has invested in some item creation feats, but that's hardly particular to the prestige class. The original idea behind that was to get the Master Staff epic feat someday, but that's a lot less interesting now that they've raised the prerequisites so much.
