Arcanis the Roleplaying Game Available for Preorder

Oh sure, but that seems like a detail. The original post seemed to imply there was some conceptual difference, not just a difference in how the number is calculated.

IDK, if you consider that a detail and not a conceptual difference, then I've never come across a tactical RPG that is conceptually different in this regard than any other.

Hello,

Nor have I, really. But to me "We calculate AC in a different way than 4E" isn't that noteworthy.

Alright - let's be clear here. Avoidance wasn't something I was touting as being noteworthy. I was answering the following question by Ggray:

Is the "Avoidance number" similar to the +level/2 modifier in 4E D&D for the defenses and to-hit attack rolls?

I find that the way the Attribute Die interacts with a Skill or that players are given the option at higher Tiers to combine spells to create a new effect or, similarly, Weapons Maneuvers for Martial Heroes, to be something to call noteworthy.

Or perhaps "Innovative" or just plain "Cool" would suffice. ;-)

Best,

In fact, we're GIVING AWAY - that's right FREE - the Codex Arcanis which is the de facto world Setting on our website as well as on RPGNow. Its a 256 page PDF, check it out.
Oh wow! I totally missed this!!

I was considering ordering the hardback version of the v.3.5/OGL book from Amazon, but I already have the softcover 3.0 version. (I order the City of Secrets book instead.)

You've totally made my day! :D

Cheers!

Our pleasure!

We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to discover the wonders of Arcanis without any monetary risk.

The Codex Arcanis is being re-written and will polish up and update the original Codex, as well as expanding the breadth of view to include the Khitani Empire, Dar Zhan Vor, the Endless Dark and, assuming I can squeeze it in, the Southern Empires.

We hope to have that on sale next year, along with the Codex of Heroes.

Thanks for purchasing City of Secrets. Hope you enjoy exploring the twisted byways and blood pits of Nishanpur.

Best,
