Are Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk being combined in 4th Edition?

well it would make things simpler for a marketing and sales point of view.

I don't know enough about the two worlds to make a educated guess.

Apparently Ed Greenwood has recently (in the last issue of Dragon in the mysteries article) made a point of saying the inhabitants of "Abeir-Toril" make a habit of referring to the world as just Toril, and the reason will come out soon. The assumption I've heard from FR experts is that whatever "Abeir" is will be merging with Toril in some fashion.

Edit: The quote is:

"Over the years," adds Ed, "most designers and gamers have shortened Abeir-Toril to just Toril, for reasons that will soon become apparent..."

I'd rather use the ending of the Gord the Rogue series than have Greyhawk merge with Forgotten Realms.

Ewww... you got your Forgotten Realms in my Greyhawk.
Well, you got your Greyhawk in my Forgotten Realms.

New book titles:
Forgotten Hawks: The Eleminster-Iuz Saga

Gary seems more the genius every day. : )

I think that a merger will not play well to either the 'hawkers' or the realms fans (some will not mind but I think a majority will not like the notion).

There has been too much rancor between the two groups over the years to suddenly become one big happy family.

Does the joining of two worlds refer to the drow coming to the surface?

Although I do have to wonder if joining the two worlds might offer benefits...
