Are Slipcases the new black?

How do you mean? I for example, keep my Race collection... well yes, on the book shelf. Is it supposed to go some where else?

circular file aka trashcan comes to mind

i have Dragonskins from the 80's i still use. and my Playboy collection (1960- 1999) is in slipcases

I see it as an excellant way to sell crappy books.

Lets say yopu have a series of three books and two did well and the third bombed. By selling it in the slipcase format you unload the crappy third book. A really evil publisher would stop selling the two good books seperate and only sell them as the slipcase set forcing you to buy the crap book to get the two good ones.
