D&D 4E Are the 4E previews like turning it up to 11?

Well, it depends on what you expect. Sure there a ton of facts there, but most of what you posted doesn't give us nuts and bolts. Also most of this stuff is random internet postings that happen to make it to this site (which is a good thing by the way). I am mostly referring to the garbage on the actual WOTC site. If I didn't have access to one of the greatest collection of DND facts on this site then most of the stuff they have released on DND insider wouldn't have told me much of anything.

D&D Insider is not the only mechanism by which WotC releases info to the public. Why do you expect it to be?

Roles such as the "leader", into which the warlord and cleric fall [and, presumably, bard, if that class makes it in], won't require the character to stand around doing nothing but making other people better (through songs, or healing), but rather will gain access to those abilities in addition to actions he or she might want to take.- What is a leader....or a warlord for that matter? The bard is in or out so which is it?

Considering it's been said that there are four roles and only eight classes in the 4e PHB, I would guess that the bard is out. Four roles, two classes per role...with future classes falling into one of the same four roles. (At least, initially. Who knows, by 2012 there might be eight roles and thirty two classes.)

Cadfan, they are still unsure as to how effective/complete the multiclassing rules are (still working on the fighter/wizard-whcih is the archetype for multiclassing in many ways).

Also, apparently they are unsure about the xp system and how long it should take to level etc (see Chris Perkins info in another thread).

There are more oddities, but these are just some of them :)

And this is relevant to the information release strategy of WotC... how?

Well considering that it will be the main outlet for information from the mothership, I guess that would make it relevant. I would argue that the most information has been and will be delivered via the website. The reason, they're also trying to sell you the eventual subscription service.

I am sure you will respond that the most info came from Gen Con. Although that may be true, I am not sure if you will see a large congregation of gamers anytime soon that rivals Gen Con.

And this would mean that D&D Insider should be the sole source of information... why?

I would argue that information is information, and carping about whether it came from website X, podcast Y, forum post Z or speech W is tedious and uninteresting.

I never said it should be. You asked about DnD Insider's relevance to the information release strategy of WotC. I think that could be defined as both relevant and significant.

This is what you said.

If I didn't have access to one of the greatest collection of DND facts on this site then most of the stuff they have released on DND insider wouldn't have told me much of anything.

So you can continue carping on about the stuff released on D&D Insider, or you can accept that information comes out of WotC via various channels.
