Are The Players The Heroes?

Summer-Knight925

Dont force either side of it, let the players decide
heroes are not chosen at birth (in reality) they rise to the danger they face and face it with guts

as Dm/Gm, it is not your job to play the character, but to play against them, if you force them into heroism then things are not as heroic, if you tell them they cant be heroes, then they feel weak

did you not pick up games to be a hero? to play a hero? to save the princess and stop the evil horde or orcs from destroying your home?
is that not heroic?

the players themselves play heroes, the characters become them.

Born vs. Learned

If we think of exceptional people, some received their abilities from birth, others by developing skills over time.

Adding in fantasy, Hercules was the son of Zeus. His strength came from his birth.

On the other hand, some business people built great empries from humble beginnings.

In both cases, an epic story can be made. In one case, the hero begins with divine powers. In the other case, it is merely fate, luck, and skill that creates the epic story.
