I'm sorry, I must rant for a moment here.

My group consists of (in every set of characters we roll up)
1) a really really really dumb fighter (or barbarian or somthing that smashes stuff)
2) a psycotic rouge of some sort that works against the party as a hobby.
3) a meglomanical druid or cleric who attempts to take over the world through minions
4) Blackmage from 8 bit theater.
5) a very quiet druid or ranger who doesn't say much but tries to be a good person at least.
6) a character created for "humour" purposes, say a gnome paladin on a flying wardog with an everburning torch stuck to her helmet who screams IEEEEEEEE! like the guy from the Kia commertial anytime she charges.
7) me who other than wizards/sorcs will play just about anything.
8) a DM pounding his/her head against the table.

So you've got seven players?

No, he's only got 4. Number 1, 2, 3, and 4 are the same guy, depending on how effective his medication is on any given day. :p

I'm average - I can't see myself as sucking mightily, but I'm no player of Kulpian magnitude, either. :)

I've seen some great roleplayers, mostly sidelining at LARPs and cons, but the better someone's acting skill, I find the less they're interested in "turning off" and just gaming, too. The best roleplayers to me are those people who can do a bit of both.

How longs a peice of string?

Don't believe there's any real answerto the question stated, as one person's idea of what makes a good roleplayer is different from another's. If you put yourself above people because they play in a different way to you then thats elitism, something that is extraordinarily unhealthy for roleplaying in general.

If people in a game are having fun and not stopping others from doing the same then their achieving what roleplying's about, enjoyment. Why try to come up with some sort of scale? If your happy with your own gaming cool, don't let others preconceptions of what's right and wrong influence you, you only have to look at any posts on whether white wolf games are pretencious or not to see how far that gets you:)

As for my own roleplaying ability I AM A GENIUS
