Are you a Pseudo-Gamer?

Hmm. I'd consider doing 7) and possibly 6), if I can ever get 3) to work properly... :D

 LOL!!!!!

The original post makes an interesting point. Back in the heyday of D&D before computer games and when Temple of Elemental Evil was just module T1 "The Village of Hommlet" and that was your lot (played with Basic red book rules at first in my case) this would never have been an issue. I may be wrong, but most gamers were footloose and fancy free pre-teens/teenagers/early twenties back then. Now many of those teens are mums and dads with homes and jobs and demanding babies/kids to look after. We hunger after those glory days of plenty of time to game in but we just simply don't have the time and its even more difficult to coordinate spare time with other potential gaming partners. :(

So, unfortunately I'd say I qualify as a pseudo gamer these days with only a semi irregular session every couple of weeks or longer. However, before more fortunate souls start to feel sorry for me, at least us pseudo gamers are still enjoying the hobby we grew up with! And, of course, by raising a couple of future gamers, I am looking to the long term and building my future gaming group to last ;) Now I just have to be patient and wait 10 years or so for my plans to come to fruition......

1. Do you spend more time making characters than playing them?

Making NPCs takes a huge amount of time, and many aren't used at all. I remember a Grima Wormtongue-based npc I created for an adventure. It took me long time to carefully create it. Then, although he was used extensively for role-play during the three sessions of the adventure, at no moment I got the need for any of his stats. As far as my PCs are concerned, I don't think about them that much in between sessions, but 10 years ago I did.

2. Do you spend more time on internet discussion groups than actually playing RPGs?

YES!!! (Well, at least currently. Maybe in one or two months I will be tired of En-World forums needless discussions, such as this one, or if I would play during a nuclear war... :o )

3. Do you play RPG's just to see your buddies and/or hit on a gamer-gurl'?

A thing that I much like with rpg, is to meet with friends. I don't really like computer rpg because you are alone against the machine (I don't see the point, even when the game is excellent).

4. Do you create D&D worlds only to run games in them once or twice?

Yes... (**Shame**)

5. Do you spend your time in work thinking about gaming, but really don't game that much?

Mmmh... yes.

6. Do you think about gaming when you are intimate with your partner(s)?

Are you kidding!? Gaming takes all my time. I really cannot afford to have an intimate partner. Is this question a joke ??!! :p

7. Did you name your dog/child Mordenkainen, but don't let him game with you?

I don't like dogs. I would like to have a tiger (after all, Sigfried and Roy have several at home), but i thought it would pose many problems, the worst of which is other players wouldn't want to play with him.

8. Do you give a lot of gaming advice because you've read the rules thouroughly or because you've playtested them thouroughly?

Because I did read them thoroughly...

In any case, I agree with another replier on this thread that "pseudogamer" is not the good word. In my case, I am rather a "monomaniacal gaming escapist". I even think that my psy will never be able to cure me from gaming in fact (not that I wish he could do that anyway...).
