This is somewhat falacious. IT's a common misconception that most companies drive their prices higher and higher to see what they can get for them. In fact, in nearly every industry where there are at least three major players in a given area all products tend to revert to a minimum profit margin.

In the US nearly every large company seeltes for a 12% profit margin on net yearly income. It's simple economics. Well, if any economics can be called simple.

Nothing in the above contradicts Kid Charlemagne. The fact that the market will only bear a 12% margin in the face of multiple strong competetive suppliers doesn't mean price is based on cost alone.

PS

I don't buy nearly as much stuff as I used to. There's simply no time to play more games if I bought them. There are things I'd like to have, but not so much that I'll buy them and stick them on the shelf. I rarely even have the time to read my game books any more!

I think giving this product to kids today would turn an entire generation from pen & paper roleplaying.

The original boxed set as written? Yes.

Something similar to in spirit, however, I think would be quite viable.

The current Basic set was a step in the right direction, but only a step.

Agreed. But what he meant was an exact reprint of that first set that's over 30 years old.

A product similar in spirit to the old red box, though, would be awesome.
