Are you going to buy an EXTRA copy of the PHB?

All of my gaming group has their own books, except for the ragtag that come every so often. Lots of nerds here. Actually, almost all of my friends own bookshelves of the books, twice over.

Huh. I never thought about that. I guess we really like to game.

To answer you, I've already ordered my set on Amazon, One Day shipping with Amazon Prime. Let's home it gets here in one day.

Yes.

I've ordered 2 copies of the Boxes set from Amazon. 1 Personal, 1 Table.

*shrug* I want to move to 4e, and Amazon's prices are rediculously low, compared to the Australian market prices. The boxed set cost the same as the PHB will here.

Everybody can just buy his own books. With 1 DM and 6 players I'm so not going to supply everybody with their copies of the PHB. I have better uses for my money than bankrupting myself on the player's behalf...

Buying an extra copy of the PHB? Why would I want to do that?

We'll also have all the info in DDI, as they've said.
And there's always piracy and a lap-top LOL

One book is enough. In the end, if a game gets adopted, everyone will buy his copy. And at least 3 (possibly all) of 5 players in my group have already pre-ordered the books.

For most of the games we play, the GM supplies all the books (that usually being me). Until fairly recently, none of my players owned their own PHB, either making do with the SRD (without laptops at the table), or by using the table copy.
IME, I tend to be the one with a bookshelf, but there is an expectation that everyone needs to have access to at least a PHB at home (and bring it to the game). The other guy who occasionally DMs has the three core books, a couple modules, and the Complete Arcane and Mage, the ECS, XPH, and PHB2. The other couple has the PHB, MM, and Spell Compendium. The former got his non-core books because of their characters (warlock, fighter, ranger, kalashtar psion, and a warmage). Latter got their additional books also because of characters (mostly casters, but the MM is because of the druid).

And, yes, I know what books my players own. I have to be aware of what they can reference and what I have to explain.

I won't be getting a second copy - I'm trying to subtly encourage the cheap-skates in our group to at least pony up for a PHB.

I'm buying the core bookset from my local game store. It's more expensive than at Amazon, but I get it the moment the store opens, and my money is going to the place that gives me a place to play, too. (I have a one bedroom apartment and 3 computers--no tabletop happening there.)

My players are all going to buy their own PHB, so it's not an issue, but anyone planning to stay at my table would need to get their own PHB--if just to support the hobby. If they don't sell books then they stop making books.

I'm planning on getting three copies of each book. One for reference at home when I'm doing GM prep. One at the office I play at on Fridays and one at work, where I also run a game.

I just don't like carrying books around.
