I hope we aren't getting 4th editions class replacement system where the Bard can do the job or the Cleric or Druid. I don't want all Bards to have a healing word. I don't mind an option for it but I want a bard that can specialize in multiple areas.

I also want to say I agree with Jester in regards to more spells equaling less bardic abilities.

They cannot give a bard a full spell progression, good with weapons, great with skills, and bardic abilities. It's going to have to lose out on one or two things.

Spells do not make up for actually abilities.

Why not? Clerics can. Not as good with skills, but better armor.

Just to address all those who basically don't care for whatever reason.

I'm not trying to be rude but the poll nor the thread was started with you in mind, that's why it isn't an option.

I prefer for the bard to be a jack of all trades and to dabble in magic, not for it to be their primary focus. In fact, I would have loved for there to be a bard subclass that didn't even use spells at all, but there's a slim chance of that happening now.

Same here. Bards have always been popular in my 2E and 3E games, despite a lack of firepower.

I think that's the prob with people who thought the bard class sucked. It is a support class, it was never designed as an artillery class. I think DPR is being used too much as a way to judge whether or not a class is worth taking.

Who did you have in mind, if not the full array of people with an opinion on it?
