Are you mean to your computer?

Plus if you leave your screen on without a screen saver, you might get an image permanently burnt onto it.

Like, for instance, the Diablo II menu page. :o :o :o

This was true with the much older CRT screens but that problem was fixed on most modern CRTs and LCDs. I do believe Plasmas TV still suffer from this problem, however.

I think plasma TV manufacturers recommend not playing games on them. The static images that most games have may burn in.

As far as shutting down my computer, I'd rather save the electricity. After all, starting a car is probably harsh and no one leaves them running all the time. ;)

True, but the cost of the amount of gas a car would use in a day is pretty huge.
Using the lights in my Bathroom uses more electricity than my computer does. (I am a bad boy, because I hate turning off and on the lights all the time, besides it makes a good night light.)
I leave my computer on all the time, of course my brother, sister, and me use it nearly round the clock. I tend to sleep around 11 - midnight. My brother often uses it until 3-4 am. Then my brother and sister use it all morning and afternoon and I grab it again in the evening.
During a lot of this time it is processing high graphics games and when not being played on I usually have a few bittorrents running.
I work my computers into the ground. Went through 1 motherboard and 2 power supplies in 2 years.
