Will you be the person to take the helm of EN World EN5ider?
EN World EN5ider is looking for a new editor, as current EN5ider editor James Haeck is moving on to pastures new next month.
Outgoing editor James Haeck has kindly offered to assist with the transition so the new editor won't be completely dumped in at the deep end!
You can find EN World EN5ider here to learn more about the publication.
JOB DESCRIPTION
TO BEGIN ON MARCH 15th, 2018
ESTIMATED TIME COMMITMENT 20-25 HRS/MNTH
**TASKS**
To produce five professionally written, edited, illustrated and laid-out PDF articles or adventures per month.
Work using EN World's online Trello project management system ensuring that articles are available for publishing on a weekly basis.
Manage a pool of freelance writers, and actively recruit new freelancers; each requires the exchange of a contract.
Commission a set number of items per month (currently four 2000-word articles and one adventure).
Convert the entirety of the ZEITGEIST adventure path in instalments (this currently takes the "adventure" slot mentioned above). The ZEITGEIST adventure path has already been published for two game systems, so this task is primarily just mechanics editing. The original ZEITGIEST adventures are each dive into three separate instalments.
Edit those items to a high standard of American English, using the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition and the EN5ider style guide, drawing on a solid knowledge of 5th Edition mechanics, balance, and presentation, as well as an understanding of the Open Gaming License.
Communicate with the art director to create an art order for each commissioned article.
Work with the layout designer to prepare each article for publication in PDF format.
Maintain the staff payroll spreadsheet ensuring that all freelancers (and yourself) are on there each month before payroll day on the 15th of each month.
Occasionally coordinate with the layout designer for compilations of existing themed articles for publication in book format.
Proactively communicate with EN5ider patrons and EN World community members, answering questions about articles, and enthusiastically support the publication.
**DESIRED SKILLS**
High standard of American English literacy is a requirement.
Strong product management skills are a requirement.
Strong understanding of both 5th Edition and Pathfinder RPG mechanics (the latter for conversion work) is a requirement.
Previous experience producing RPG products is a plus.
Proficiency with social media is a plus.
Familiarity with EN World EN5ider is a strong plus.
Familiarity with and engagement with the EN World community is also a plus.
Ability to maintain confidences regarding upcoming products lines and other sensitive company information.
Commitment to company policy of inclusiveness and representation in terms of content and freelancer recruitment.
**PAYMENT**
Payment is made on the 15th of each month along with the rest of the payroll.
Payment is $0.03/word ($60) of each article or adventure commissioned, with the exception of ZEITGEIST installments which are paid for at a flat fee of $240 per instalment (three instalments per full adventure, one instalment per month). Payment is made monthly on the 15th of each month by PayPal.
Writing fees (should you occasionally decide to write any articles yourself) are additional/separate to the editor fees.
