I'm getting tired of the word "kickstarter".

I'll confess, though, that the threads aren't really moving down as fast as I thought. I recently started posting in my campaign world thread (just...stuff, whatever detail strikes my fancy), and despite being the only one posting in it, and only posting every few days, it takes several days for it to fall off page one.

I like seeing those kinds of posts on Enworld, as it shows me new stuff and what is going on in the industry. And the ones I am not interested in are easy to skip over.

Since you actually have to click on them to see their info., no they don't bother me. If they had ads popping up randomly while I was reading other threads then I would be more annoyed at them.

Being that I've supported several Kickstarters in the past few months (Reaper Bones, Rappan Athuk and Tabletop Forge) and will be supporting a few more in the coming days (M&M 10th Anniversary and Settlers of Catan tray) I'd rather see more Kickstarter stuff than the same old fights and arguments about editions, broken rules and other stuff that's just pure negativity.

For once it's good to see posts about things that people like and are excited about.

Not sure how I would ever hear of most of them otherwise. I do not read very many blogs. And if the thread is clearly labelled it is no burden upon me to either skip it or check it out.

I voted "yes." It does bother me, but only a little. Like Nellisir, I'm more tired of reading the word "kickstarter." Also, it seems like the "heavy hitters" of the industry (Reaper Minis, Monte Cook) got more limelight than some of the little guys out there with their kickstarter projects. I'm not sure what to think of that.

Who knows, someday I might need to peddle something on EnWorld, I'd hate to have my options restricted. :p

I liked it better when we had separate forums for these different kinds of posts. It made the site more organized, more functional, and easier to us.

For me --

a) I'd rather know about new RPG stuff than not;

and

b) I'd rather the actual publisher or creator be present to talk about it than not.

One of our primary functions is - and has always been - about the new stuff. And what better way to find out about it than to let people tell you directly about the cool stuff they've written, drawn, made, or published? Sure, the first post might sometimes read a bit like ad text - and often that's a way to get it ignored - but that's made up for by an enthusiastic publisher or creator who starts an interesting thread about their product.

I've been noticing this for a while. There's been lots of 1 post wonders talking about their new game, and self promotion of products (like kickstarters).

Are you tired of it? Vote in the poll. It's a boolean choice.

I don't like it. It feels like spam. It feel disingenuous to have some newb sign up for an account just so he can pimp his product here in the forum.

I get that the TableTop Gaming forum is a place to get attention for your new table top game.

But there's a world of difference between a regular posting about a product others may enjoy, or even better giving a review, than to have our forum cluttered up with spam by strangers who are just passing through town.

If that includes my Mummy post, well I'll just mention I am not an employee of CCP/White Wolf.Nor am I an employee of Onyx Path Publishing. It's purpose was to inform folks who might not have the game on their radar about it, and help them preview the material. Beyond that preface. No I'm not tired of it. People invest a lot of time and love into IP's so it's both understandable and good business sense to promote it.
