Arena fighting

No wonder I'm getting smacked around so much. I was right in assuming I am at a huge disadvantage for not owning the books. This seems to be a trend for WOTC. For example, if you don't buy the newest set of Magic:TG, You don't stand a hope of beating someone who spends their paychecks on 6 boxes. (Unless of course you use The Deck, hehehe)

Oops, didn't mean to go off topic there.

Thanks Pax. I'll run those stats by the DMs and see if I can get my hands on one. I'll show those evil clerics a lesson or two. Now, if I can just figure out a way around that damn Repel Metal spell...there seems to be no option when that happens.

Druid: I cast Repel Metal
Barbarian: Wow, that didn't even get past the surprise round. Rematch?

Anti-magic maybe, but I'd have to win initiative. Or maybe invest in a non-metal set of stuff. I once tried Cape of Mountebank to Dimension Door myself out of it. The druid proceeded into his own repel metal spell, so either way, I couldn't do anything. (I tried shooting a bow into it, but the DM rules that the arrows would be affected.)

Not so. The repulsion follows a fixed path and direction for the duration of the spell. Imagine it's like a river with a current.

If you circle around behind the druid, the spell will carry you straight to him. Grapple him as you go past, and you'll both get dragged along by your armor the length of the flow, biting and clawing and daggering as you go.

Just watch out when he turns into a bear :)

Bweh. I'm crafting a Rogue/Spellfire Channeler for the PlayByeb game now, heh.

Druid: I cast Repel Metal
Barbarian: Wow, that didn't even get past the surprise round. Rematch?

Rebuilt Barbarian: Shame the effects of that spell don't count inside my *touches Rune-inscribed breastplate* two-and-a-half-hour Antimagic Field. EAT FORGECLEAVER, DRUID! *proceeds to hack druid to tiny, precooked bits*

Well the duration is only 1 round per level (so 15 rounds for a Druid(15); besides, the Antimagic Field is specified to block the effects (so you don't have to win initiative, since the Rune I described requires only a touch to activate).

Also note that STONE objects are also repelled. Keep that in mind, depending on the terrain ... you may be able to circle around the druid and roll a boulder into the AoE behind him ... heh!

Alright, I'll try to get MoF, and also FRCS, if I have the cash (possibly, but there's not many good bookstores in my area...maybe online...)

The two places are:
PlayByWeb.com--The game is SGW-arena under D&D 3rd.

RPOL.net--The game is DnD-Crossroads Arena under Fantasy.

Well, I'll give the RPOL place a shot, but the PlayByWeb.com game isn't accepting new players (I only find this out AFTER spending an hour or so building a character ... argh ... ).

Shame too, I made a pretty sweet little gnome rogue/spellfire channeler. Go ahead, cast Harm at me, I'll suck it up, smile, and throw all 6 spell levels right back at you ... 3 levels at a time, plus sneak attack, for 7d6 damage per blast. Both blasts at once, as a single standard action ... using ranged touch attacks, with all the glory of ranged-benefitting feats. 7d6+1 per blast, 14d6+2 per round ... cheesy-munchkin-goodness, indeed! Heh! :D

Fort saves of DC 16 are laughed upon...I mean, how hard could it be to miss? But that 1 round could be all I need. Thanks!

Thanks for the links.

Horns of Blasting stun for one round on a success. It's two if they fail.

Waits for evil laughter to shatter his windows...
