Argent Fist (FoE) and Entry Requirements

OK, Argent Fist in FoE has Knight Training or Monastic Training, both from the ECS, as an entry requirement. The CV offers a Feat called Ascetic Knight, which is a Bonus Feat for L1 of Argent Fist.

By the Entry requirements of the class, you couldn't enter the class if you had the Ascetic Knight feat. I find this odd as Ascetic Knight does everything Knight Training or Monastic Training would do for a Paladin/Monk, and then some. There is no reason for someone to take Knight Training or Monastic Training, when the feat Ascetic Knight is available, other than as an entry requirement for this class, or the CV is not available.

Personally, I don't allow the Complete books in my Eberron game, as it makes the choices for feats a much more complex process, but in a game where both the ECS and the CV are being used, there is no reason for a Paladin/Monk to take Knight Training or Monastic Training when they can take Ascetic Knight and get more benefit from it.

Would you allow a Paladin/Monk with the Ascetic Knight feat to enter the Argent Fist class or would you force them to take a feat that is useless, just to get into the PrC?

Yeah I'd have no problem with it.

heck seeing as a monk can currently use a monk bonus feat to get Monastic training, I'd have no probs with them useing their level 2 bonus feat to take Aesthetic Knight (if they qualify of course).

But then again I'm nice like that.

I would allow a paladin/monk to use Ascetic Knight to satisfy the PrCs entry requirements, similar to how I'd allow someone to use Improved Toughness to qualify for a class that required just normal Toughness.

I figure it's the intent that counts more than the actual feat itself. A blue peg fits in the hole just as well as a red peg does.

I would allow it. The only reason I really need is common sense. Same applies to the issue with the Improved Toughness feat mentioned by Sejs. I think the better question would be...why would you NOT allow it? I can understand if the player is a shameless optimizer, but even then I doubt the difference between two or three feats that function in a similar manner matter that much in the end for anyone.

Also, I just realized that I had accidentally revived a dead thread...apologies. >__<
