Armor enhancement to make it lighter

Is there an enhancement to make armor count as the next lighter category? (In order to give non-metal armors the same effect that mithral does.)

If there is no such thing, is it abusive to allow it?

Thanks!!

I can't think of one right away. But there are special materials in some books that have the same effect without being metal. Darkleaf from the ECS (p120) comes to mind.

If you wanted one, I would say make it a +2 armor enhancement. Would come out to near the same pricepoints and effectiveness I do believe.

+1 Mithral Fullplate = 11,500
+1 Dragonhide (Size Category Lighter [+2 bonus]) = 12,300

Of course, the downside is that Mithral Fullplate will be WAY cheaper to upgrade further.

There is none to my knowledge.

And why would you need one when there is Mithral?

Edit: AH, for Druids. NVM

Actually it was for a grappling fighter concept to use the Devilhusk armor with the Reaping Mauler PrC. Devilhusk is Hide armor (Medium) but the Reaping Mauler gains most of its special abilities when wearing Light or no armor. If there was a RAW way to make it work together, that'd be excellent.

Halfweight from Underdark (FR)

You're brilliant Krafen! Thanks!! (The sad part is, I actually own that book already! I guess that means I need to start playing in an underdark game so I actually read that book.)

Chitin armor from Races of the Dragon is non-metallic and can be made into breastplates, half and full plate. It also raises the max dex of the armor by 1.

That's a good point, thanks for the thought! Unfortunately my conundrum is a class armor type restriction, not a druidic one (see above).
