Arrow Creating Magic Items

RJKrik

First Post
Hello all, just a quick question that is probably easily answered. I have a 10th level archer, and it's clear that supply of arrows will be a rather large problem soon, with 3 attacks a round with Rapid Shot and next level 4 attacks a round. So I was wondering if there were any magic items that could create arrows.

I thought I remembered a quiver that did this, but I may have been imagining that. I think there are also some bows that create arrows when used. Anything like this would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help.

The pricing on that one looks really high for what it does.

Andy Collins had one on his site that might be closer to a fair cost (for MW arrows). Maybe slightly undercosted.

Given that Catti-brie has 8 times the value in gear that a 7th level character might have (ad far beyond the suggested NPC gear) it seems like they went out of their way to overcost the equipment for 'wow' factor.

I'd use Andy's version at maybe 900-1800gp value.

Ah, the benefits of traveling around with an ECL 18 character.

I just checked the price on that quiver that they list for Catti-brie and I think they underpriced it. As per the DMG, a use-activated item, using a 4th level spell at 7th caster level (minor creation) prices out at 56,000 gp. That quiver also can have magic weapon, which would only increase the price.

Check out the Armbow in the ECS. It's a warforged component incorporating a +2 repeating crossbow and a mostly unlimited ammo supply. I say mostly because it give the PC X bolts per day for free. After that point, I think it's 1 hit point/5 bolts.

I would agree if the item allowed you to cast Minor Creation at will. It doesn't.

If it allowed you to pull out any ammunition or thrown weapon at will it might be worth what they price it at (given the limited duration of the object). Actually it might be a decent base cost for an item a thrown weapon expert might use and select his weapon at will.

You can reduce the price on the Quiver of Anariel if you limit it to creating X number of batches of the magic Arrows per day. If it does it only say x3 or x4/day, that should give you a price break.

Also like Hong says, you can stick a ton of arrows in a portable hole, bag of storing (make sure you have cork caps for the arrows though), etc....

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I will talk to my DM about it. I don't have the cash needed for either a portable hole or the Quiver of Anariel so we'll see what he says. I would think the quiver on Andy Collins's site is rather underpriced. This is moving more towards house rules, but I would think 1,800 GP would be about right, the same price as a Quiver of Elhona. If you think about it, spending 1,800gp on arrows (1GP/20) nets you 36,000 arrows. Of course, toting around 36,000 arrows would be rather unwieldy, but I don't think it would be that powerful to have as many arrows on hand as you need. Then I do have a bit of a biased POV so who knows.

Anyway, thanks for the help all.
