Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I'm looking for mecha artwork for a future project.
Looking for: Artwork featuring anime-style mecha unit. Think Robotech, Evangelion, Escaflowne, and Gundam. Do not think print Battletech (IMO, the designs are ugly), though Mechwarrior minis are a good indication of a style I like as well. Basically, I like the big robot mecha, though my product will feature mecha suits no larger than 60 ft., and most in the 10-15 ft. category (if you are familiar with the d20 Future mecha rules, I am going for mostly Large mecha, with a few Huge mecha thrown in, for the moment).
Design: I want simple line art that is clean, sharp and has a nice technical feel. I don't necessarily want technical drawings, though done correctly they can work too. Whether inked or not is up to the artist, though for the price I am offering, I understand if we leave the illustrations at line art.
I prefer the figures to be static, either in a pin-up pose, or frozen action pose. If in a frozen action pose, I'd rather most of the figure is visible, so no ultra convoluted mid-action poses. Pin-up style, I think, works best.
As an example of both style and design, please take a look at these two illustrations I did, based on Robotech. I'm only using them as samples of what I'd like to see, more or less. I am not an artist, I just used to draw, so no harsh criticism on the artwork.
1- Mid-action pose - Here the mecha are in mid-action. Though they are moving, you can still see the mecha design pretty good.
2- Pin-up pose - Here the mecha is just standing there.
Payment: $20 per image.
Rights: Non-exclusive first publishing rights, electronic and print, plus unlimited use for promotion purposes. Artist retains ownership of artwork, and may display it for promotional purposes (art portfolio, website), and sell subsequent publishing rights in electronic and/or print format to others as long as it is after the stipulated time in the contract (60 days after publication of the artwork).
If you have mecha artwork you have already done, I would be willing to purchase the rights to the artwork for publishing, whether they are first or subsequent rights.
