Art of the Kill

I guess the original author use "MP" to describe the source, and somehow the editor or even an automatic tool expanded that to "Manual of the Planes" (which should be MotP, not MP) or something like that. I guess it will be fixed in the compilation at the end of the month. ;)

Curse you technological power of autofill!!!! :p

One of my hopes for 4E was that (unlike 3.5 with the rules changes in the Complete X series) they would stop adding completely new mechanics and rules in splats.

One of the things I like about 4e is that at its heart, the game is a brief set of well crafted rules.

There are really only a few rules that everyone has to be knowledgeable of, and continuously use, and despite the addition of new powers, and feats, those rules have remained pretty constant. (Albeit some errata here and there.) The new powers and feats really only come into play by the people who choose to use them with their own character. Which as a result has less of an effect on how the game plays.

Two problems with the article I noticed:

In the weapon tables on the next to last page, neither the garrote or blowgun have a listing under the "Group" section. Without a weapon group (even just a filler group like "garrote" instead of flail or something) these weapons have no way of interacting with several feats such as Weapon Mastery.

The other problem is in the garrote part of the "Weapons" section below the table. It states that you can use a garrote to deal damage on a grab attack if you are proficient with it, but neglects to mention exactly how much damage you deal. Is it just weapon damage (1d4), weapon + strength mod, or something else? Does this damage increase at 21st level?
