This image is THE thri-kreen IMO. My first D&D character was a thri-kreen [psionicist/ranger], and this picture is 90% of why I decided on it.

My two favorite pieces of Thri-kreen art come from 4e and 5e.

4e, from the Dark Sun Campaign Guide I beleive.

And from the 5e Monster Manual.

I don't know why, but I have always stylized my Thri-Kreen as more ant-like then Mantis like so these two art pieces really capture that well.

Thri-Kreen changes are quite interesting. They went from looking more but like to more humanoid. Not sure I ever really noticed the change, I've seen the 4e and 5e artwork but the old look has stuck in my mind.
