1. Generally, true, but not always. There are definately some monster rules that do not apply to characters, design philosophy notwithstanding.
2. Gnoll's advance by Character Class only. Once advancing by class, even if they get any additional bonus feats, they would not be "...one or more bonus feats, marked with a superscript B (B)..." They would be OTHER bonus feats as described in the class. Not one of the ones described in the monster entry.
