Artwork of Johnathan Fuller

First Post
Here is a brief sample of the artwork of a good friend of mine, John Fuller. He has given me permission to post here until he gets a user account of his own. This pic is of our intrepid advanturing party that he will be DMing soon.

This is a scanned image, done by hand using pencil and enhanced by Paintshop Pro.

He has a lot of talent. The first black and white drawing actually reminds me of the drawings from the classbooks, albeit better (You Go John!) It looks more animated, and that gobber with the two six-shooters is the shiznit :) I also like how he copped out on the top of that giants head :p :)

A comment, if I may, for the photoshop paintings: there is a whole lot of white there that he used for the shading, like their standing under a 6000MW highway work construction lamp, and the lighting is a bit uneven. Don't take offense! :) You obviously have a lot of talent and I just want to point out the things, if you don't already know, that could be worked on.

Now, show us some more! :D

Heh, the head-cropping was a scanning accident. It's there, but it just didn't catch. I'll see if I can't get him to send me a better image.

I'll let him know about the shading issues, but I should mention that these two are his first ever pieces working with that medium (Paintshop Pro, he just got the program today) so it's safe to say that they will only get better with time. I'll post more as soon as I get it.

The gobber is my character, btw. Can't wait 'till that game starts! :D

Is it a troll? The long nose compels me ... and I have no doubt that his coloring skills will improve with practice :) Kudos for the Gobber character; I had the same idea myself. Short green dude packing a lot of firepower. Although I was alternating between that idea and three gobbers who are brothers that operate a small 12 pounder cannon on a donkeys cart. (You know, youngest packs powder, second eldest rolls in ball, and eldest pulls the string 8D :p :))

Hey Thanks for the input

Hey I'm John and I did the above drawings. I just got logged into this thing. I started doing computer artwork yesterday... it's a whole new ballgame from my old pen and ink! Thanks for the info on the lights and darks... I'll be sure to tone it down a bit (got a little cursor happy with the effects tool):D. I hope to have more postings soon.

If you have time (and teh effort involved) I really need a picture of my characetr for my dm.

Here's the short story...

Half-Silver Dragon Paladin of Bahamunt (LG Dragon God)
Wielding a nice big Mercurial Greatsword whilst wearing a mithril breast-plate. Not to dragon looking, imagine an elf with long silver hair and instead of normal pointy ears, silver scaly pointy ears. Oh and white glowing eyes. Wings, but no tail.

cheers if you can do it.
