Ashin's Commission: The Great Escape!

(ooc: too true EGOist is indeed the key. is there anywhere she can see beyond the big bad guys that would afford some cover (incl full) to target with a dimension door? Trying to figure out tactical movement without a map is difficult so I hope you don't mind all the questions.)

(OOC: I don't mind the questions--answering them takes me about 100x less time than drawing a map. The room is large, but it is actually a room and not a cavern, and no pillars in the middle or anything, so the best she can do is Dimension Door behind some treasure and hope it will act as rough terrain and thus prevent a charge (which it will as long as nobody jumps over it or such) )

ooc: oh wait, she could shift forms, then jump somewhere next round. You mentioned that she couldn't fit through the door as a huge creature. but if she was able change to something large or huge outside the room and still be able to see a position in the room to dimension door to next round, that'd work, right?

(OOC: That works just fine, yup. However, she has very few choices, I think. What is Huge that she has legitimately seen before? This was her only adventure, so I don't know of anything, and unless it's in the backstory, I'm leery of letting just any old form be 'familiar'.)

(ooc: that limits the power/feat to complete uselessness. she has never seen any monsters in this her only adventure, only humanoids. i was looking at either hydra, lammasu, or remorhaz.)

(OOC: I just reread amd noticed that the SRD description of Metamorphosis does not have the 'familiar' clause. I have to play by the books, whichever way it goes (so you're lucky or your choice would be between an Ogre and an Afflicted of one of the three types), but I'll just say that that is remarkably scary and eliminates the 'just don't use that monster' semi-viable protection factor against abuse. Particularly since you won't be retiring Eternity and considering that, we actually do need to make a ruling on that Metamorphic Transfer)

(ooc: if in the end we decide that metamorphic transfer needs to be banned or just between the two of us we find metamorphosis too horrible to consider, I'll let Zaeryl reformat Eternity.)

In the hallway, Eternity makes sure she has enough room then says to Zaeryl and Almayce, "I've recently tapped into further potential in this flexible shell, do not be surprised." then she manifests Metamorphosis shifting into a Huge Remorhaz. Without any supernatural abilities, her metamorphic transfer does not come into play.

ooc: I'll work up a quick stat sheet in a few minutes. With her force screen and animal affinity still applying she'll have AC 24 and an additional +14 hp due to con changes in her new form.

(OOC: Sure, no problem--that's basically how I figured we'd handle the transfer issue. And zounds, I'm really glad that the Hydra's ridiculous Fast Healing is Extraordinary!

As for Con changes--you are correct that you get more HP. Frankly, I'm quite glad that this is so and that we're using the SRD and not the idiotic new rules on Con changes, since it makes no sense for a form shift with high Con not to increase HP or vice versa. If we ever decide differently on that, I'd need to change some of Siobhan's stats around too, since it hoses Druids who take physical stats other than Con.

I have what I need for Remorhaz Eternity at my fingertips already, but if you want a little sheet for yourself, that'll be fine, especially since we're waiting on Almayce still anyway.)

ooc: I'd argue the point, but this isn't the rules forum. :) Yet another reason to really like the PHBII Shifter rules....

Remorhazes cannot speak.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a remorhaz must hit an opponent least one size category smaller than itself with its bite attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can attempt to swallow the opponent the following round.

Swallow Whole (Ex): When a remorhaz begins its turn with a grappled opponent in its mouth, it can swallow that opponent with a successful grapple check. Once inside, the opponent takes 2d8+12 points of bludgeoning damage plus 8d6 points of fire damage per round from the remorhaz’s gizzard. A swallowed creature can cut its way out by using a light slashing or piercing weapon to deal 25 points of damage to the gizzard (AC 15). Once the creature exits, muscular action closes the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out. A Huge remorhaz’s interior can hold 2 Large, 4 Medium, 8 Small, 32 Tiny, 128 Diminutive, or 512 Fine or smaller opponents.

Skills: Remorhazes have a +4 racial bonus on Listen checks.[/sblock]
