That’s where the law of conservation of ninja comes in (originating in Bruce Lee movies). One assassin is an unstoppable killing machine, dozens of assassins are easily put down by a single hero.

I once sent assassin at party wizard, bit knowing he will fail because my players are naughty word. He attacked when eizard was with one pc, who interfered, assassin fleed but not before dropping criptic bs that pointed them at a politician/criminal whose plots pcs were foiling. They used it to get the guy hamged, never suspecting that was what assassin's real benefactor wanted all along.
