At 1st level, how powerful would you say PCs are in any edition of D&D?

Ahh, cool. That's the bit I was missing. Like I said, I'm still stuck in the stone ages with only the PHB 1. Totally agree on the striker bit about needing the To Hit edge. A striker that misses all the time is boring. I played a Faylock for a little while and I really noticed how badly he was doing when compared to the rogue I played later. Love the flavour of warlocks, not so keen on the mechanics.
