Attacking Armor?

I have a creature that likes to destroy character's weapons, shields, and armor. Weapons and shields can be taken care of via Sunder, but what mechanic is used for armor?

If it is a "worn" object, then what size is a suit of armor, and would Improved Sunder avoid the AoO? (the SRD only mentions "carried" items but I get the feeling they mean worn as well).

Well, not going into the silliness that is sundering armor (which is inherently build to protect against weapons and thus should be pretty endurable ;)), but yeah, I'd consider worn like carried.

Officially, none. Apparantly, I can destroy what you're wearing, cut the amulet from your neck, skewer your kidney, but I can't crack your breastplate.

IMC, of course, I don't play official D&D. I give everyone a defense bonus based on class (more d20 Modern style than Unearthed Arcana), and any hit that "touches" but doesn't hit is considered an attack against armor. I also use lower hardness values than D&D for armor.

For D&D, I'd suggest giving your monster an extraordinary ability or a new feat that's a branch off of Improved Sunder, allowing them to attack armor with sunder actions. Remember that armor has 5 HP per armor or enhancement bonus, and a hardness equal to its material (plus 2 per point of enhancement bonus, if you follow the rule for weapons and shields.)

If it's a magical creature, perhaps it can cast shatter. I remember the first time I pulled that out at an RPGA game... the look on the DM's face was priceless when the BBEG's armour cracked open... *laugh*

Have a look at the Bebiliths special armour damaging ability in the Monster Manual. That's the only thing I know.
heh... my dwarven fighter/cleric didn't enjoy watching his dwarven plate get ripped apart.

Rend Armor (Ex):
If a bebilith hits with both claw attacks, it pulls apart any armor worn by its foe. This attack deals 4d6+18 points of damage to the opponent’s armor. Creatures not wearing armor are unaffected by this special attack. Armor reduced to 0 hit points is destroyed. Damaged armor may be repaired with a successful Craft (armorsmithing) check.
