August 2nd Northern California Game Day- Memories on Page 3

Tsunami - my guess would be that you numbered them 1,2,4,5 because in the original thread, the Gladitorial Game I was to run was Game #3?

I still have no idea how many people would be interested in it, though, so unless some people mention that they'll be working on and bringing a character (I'd give chargen guidelines), than I don't think I'll assume we'll be playing, if I'm the only person involved.

That'd be too embarrassing, me sitting at a table, with miniatures splayed out, yelling "Get 'im, Ubaar! Crush that Paladin!" and rolling the dice to hit myself. :p

Please sign up the following: (my kids)
EchoPhantom - Game 3
Lucky - Game 3

(yep - they're both signed up for my game, so I guess I'll be the one to deal with 'em...:D )

Also, is there any sort of schedule for the non-RPGs? I saw someone was looking to bring some board games - I could bring Shogun, although I won't be playing since I'm busy the whole day.

Loball

Also, more info on the game I'm running.

Module Name: The Temple of Pazuzu
Players: 6-8
Levels: 3-5 - I can provide if necessary.

Reapersaurus- I'm still interested, and I assume we're going to have a large supper-break, so those coming in and out can play, too. That is, if you'd still like to run it.

Loball- I'm bringing my Heroclix (I just got Martian Manhunter!), and there's also going to be that Monster Island thing going on. I figure we'll play these games at supper or after games. Bring what you want!

Tsunami: Should we make our own characters for your game, or will you provide them? If we do make our own, what books will you allow?

Reapersaurus: Could you please repost the rules for your contest in here?

Tsunami - you didn't post the day or the location, with directions like were in the last thread! (I think) LOL
The day is Aug 2nd, the place is Great Escape Games in Sacramento, right near Arden and Howe Ave.

Also, it might be helpful to put a link to the other thread in the first post.

For the Gladiatorial Game, I'm making the rules relatively simple, to make the game quick and clean:
Max level of characters is 4th level
No bard, wizard, sorcerer, druid, or cleric classes are allowed. This is to minimize the impact of spells on the Game - this Game will focus primarily on combat.
Sources for game content is ALL the class books (within reason).
No Speed armor from DotF or other known-broken stuff, but other than that, knock yourself out with content- it'd be helpful if you brought the splatbook with you if you wanted something from it.
No potions of Shield or anything that's not in the DMG potion list.
No Belt of Shield for 2000 gp's or anything like that.
No ECL races unless cleared with me.

If a few people show up, with acceptable characters, it should be a pretty quick combat session, that actually might have luck and skill/tactics dictate the winner, instead of spells and magic items determining the victor.
From my experience in other Games of Death, the more magic that's involved, the more cloudy the competition gets, and less emphasis is placed on crunchy melee or ranged combat. :drools at the thought of running a combat like the movie Gladiator:

Hi, folks! If the evening Temple of Pazuzu game starts at 6 PM or later, I'd love to dign up. I'm busy earlier in the day, but I can make it then.

Thanks!

Oh, and I'm glad to see this NoCal Game Day thing finally take off! :)

Whispering Woodwind Character Creation

Okay. I blame all errors made on lack of sleep. :)

Anyways, now to answer some questions:

Tsunami: Should we make our own characters for your game, or will you provide them? If we do make our own, what books will you allow?

For my game, please make your 2nd level characters, using the core rulebooks only (just to keep things simple), before the game. You can play as any of the core races, and, if you really want, a tiefling or aasimar, but they will start with one class level instead of two.

I'd prefer that you play good or neutral characters, but if you have a really cool character concept that requires an evil alignment, e-mail me about it at northcalgameday@yahoo.com

For character creation we will be using point-buy, with 28 points to spend, although this may change when I take a better look at the DMG after work. Your character may have 900 gold pieces to spend on equipment, or the normal amount for 1st level characters if you're playing as a Tiefling or Aasimar.

If you're playing as an Aasimar you get: +2 Wis, +2 Cha, +2 Listen, +2 Spot, darkvsion (60 ft.), acid, cold, and electricity resistance 5, and light once per day as a 1st level sorcerer.

If you're playing as a Tiefling, you get: +2 Dex, +2 Int, -2 Cha, +2 Bluff, +2 Hide, darkvision (60 ft.), acid, cold, and electricty resistance 5, and light once per day as a 1st level sorcerer.

For health points, take the maximum for first level (as usual) and the average for 2nd. So a 2nd level Fighter with 10 Constitution would have 15 hit points.

Please send your characters to me at the same e-mail address. Thank you!

Hi, folks! If the evening Temple of Pazuzu game starts at 6 PM or later, I'd love to dign up.

It starts at 6 pm, and I'm sure we can wait for you to arrive before beginning. Welcome to the game!

Oh, and my friend Pebby has decided to move from Game 1 to Game 3, so I've got an opening in my game now.
