When do they start making the save rolls?

I've run into a similar situation in the past...while I agree the ongoing damage is started on the following turn. Does the character make a save at the end of the turn the immediate action was triggered? Success of this save would negate any ongoing damage from ever taking effect. This is how we ran it based on the order or the turn...but I don't know if that was right.

Any thoughts on that one?

Yes, if an immediate action on your turn hits you with a (save ends) effect, you save against that effect at the end of your turn. If the (save ends) effect that hit you is ongoing damage, you might never take said ongoing damage.
