Aussie gamers - where do you buy your stuff from?

First Post
G'day to all my gaming friends/associates,

To combat the rising prices of gaming material, our current D&D group has decided to set up a kitty to purchase any new supplements which may interest us but are beyond our individual resources (as a father of two I've gotta tell ya those resources are mighty slim too!)

Now that our team has enough funds to buy something I've been frustrated by the types of product available at our end of the world (specifically, Sydney Australia).

Are there any other Sydney-siders (or even Australian gamers) on the board that could advice me on the best place to make purchases? There's so many great source books out there I would like to get...but it seems that I have to order most of them from the US (and thus pay large overseas transport costs). I'd like to know if there was a closer/cheaper option for me to take.

If anyone can be of assistance I'd be most appreciative.

G'day Yeebarr! How's sunny Sydney? Hope your no where near the fires mate!

Anyway, I order all my stuff from MilSims in Morrabbin, Melbourne. I live in eastern Victoria, so I use their internet mail order service. I find then very reliable. I'm not sure about any stores in Sydney (hong may be able to help us out on that one). Hope that helps a little!

Thanks for the link Eternal Knight; that looks like it'll be a great help! :)

As for the fires....hasn't hit my home yet (I'm South West of Sydney...but fortunately not too far South!). I can imagine it's going to be another hot summer though! :(

If you can get into the city, i would have to say the Tin Soldier or Games Paradise.

I have used Mil Sims in the past and will not be anymore. The way they package their products always damages the books. So if you dont mind mind a little damage then fine but for me its a big no no.

Both the Tin Soldier and Games Paradise are always chock full of the latest and greatest so you wont have any issues on missing out.

Also incase you didnt know, just across from Games Paradise, Kings Comics have opened up a brand spanking new store. :D

Really? I have never had a problem. I have been ordering from them for about two years, and not one of my books has been damaged. How long ao was it? How did they package it?

I've just moved back home to Brisbane after living in Singapore for a few years and I simply can't get over how expensive D&D stuff is in Oz.

Singapore has a smaller RPG market than even Brisvegas and yet prices are around 20% less than here (and that's also allowing for the exchange rate differences). Oh well, Singapore has to have something going for it....

Anyway, I plan to order from my old Singapore store going forward to see how that works out.

Cheers

Funny you should mention that. After many years of using them without a hitch, that happened to me with the Scarred Lands HC. One of the corners of the front cover got dinged up in transit. They replaced it of course, but I had to wait 10 weeks...which was bloody annoying. Dunno why I had to wait so long.

Which would you say is best Sulimo? Games Paradise seems to be a little more expensive than MilSims, and I couldn't see anything about postage (which Wormhole games has for free).
