Aussie gamers - where do you buy your stuff from?

Usually, I'm an indescriminate shopper among Brisbane's FLGS's, but I tend to order from MilSims for stuff that doesn't seem to make it to stores here, or for stuff that's on special.

I also went crazy on RPGnow a while back, when I had some cash in a paypal account.

Hmm...being in Newcastle, all we really have/had is Frontline Hobbies whose RPG section has shrunken quite considerably over the years, so I've taken to using online stores.

Heya Sulimo, good to see that there is at least one other RPG'er from Newcastle out here! :)

I've had to do the same as Sulimo, and for the same reason. I use Milsims, and haven't had a problem with them at all. In fact, when I ordered the Star Wars rule book from them, they emailed me to tell me that a revised edition was comming out in a month and a half, and asked if I would like to wait for that one instead (to which I said yes). Now that is decent service in my book. 2 to 3 working days for it to be shipped from Victoria to Newcastle, and thats without paying for express courier.

I haven't tried other mail order companies yet, so I can't compare them.

Mind Games in Melbourne.

hey, me too!

tho... its kinda a wierd shop and i've had really good and really bad experiences with staff there, including good and bad with a couple of people...

and i missed the sale through lack of cash...

I use Mil Sims for most of my purchases. Their prices are good (especially at conventions), their range is good and the mail order has always been reliable. I've ordered more than a dozen times and can only remember one occasion where the books were damaged by the packaging: even then it was only a slight buckling in one corner.

For Brisbane people, Ace Comics & Games in the city has very good prices on WotC product: usually around 1.6 times cover price.

Hehe. I thought I was the only ENWorld member who was a Novocastrian. Its good to know I'm not alone.

When I was in sophisticated cosmopolitan Canberra, at the epicenter of Austrian high society, I used to shop at Logical Choice in Civic. They were pretty good in terms of service, selection and prices. Mind you, they were also pretty much the only FLGS in sophisticated cosmopolitan Canberra, so it's not like I could have gone anywhere else if they had not been good in terms of service, selection and prices. :)

Now that I'm back in sleepy, small-town Sydney, I frequent Games Paradise and Napoleon's. They're both easy to do business with. Tin Soldier isn't too bad either and they have stacks of minis (as their name would suggest, they're a wargames shop as well as a RPG shop). Dymocks on George St also stocks RPG stuff, but only material from WOTC as far as I can tell.

Living in Country NSW, where there are NO :( Gamestores, i order from Milsims all the time, the're Pretty Quick and reliable, and after they stuffed up my Order and sent me a 150 bucks worth of LOTR's Mini's for Free i can't complain ;)

Cheers Maxboy

Another vote for Milsims, I've used them a few times and had no problems. Though if I can I generally get my books from the local shop 'ere on the Gold Coast. There's just something about actually going into a shop and holding what you're gonna buy instead of looking at a picture.

In my next life as a brothel owner, I am going to use that as my slogan. Oh, yes I am.
