Aussie gamers - where do you buy your stuff from?

Another vote for Milsims, I've used them a few times and had no problems. Though if I can I generally get my books from the local shop 'ere on the Gold Coast. There's just something about actually going into a shop and holding what you're gonna buy instead of looking at a picture.

I have to agree with you. Unfortunatley, some of us, like myself and Maxboy, don't have access to a local gaming store :(. Poor us lol

What was the wait time for RPGnow purchases? And how much was the shipping costs?

RPGnow is PDF based products, so it's more or less immediate and the shipping cost is basically the download time. After fifteen years of gaming on the Gold Coast, waiting weeks for whatever I wanted to get shipped out because there wasn't that much range at any of the local stores, I still get a little excited by the immediacy of it. And it beats making a treck into the city every time I've got some spare cash.

If you're not bothered by storing stuff on the computer, I recommend it as a great place to nab stuff, usually at a much cheaper price than you'd pay for the hardcopy. (I paid about seven bucks Australian for the PDF of Malhavoc Press' Demon Gods Fane, only slightly moe for an electronic copy of the Banewarrens. I've seen the hardcopy of these at three times the price in some places).

Whilst that is true, these days you can see pretty extensive online previews of a great many products so you're not really buying site unseen.

As with everybody else, Games Parasite or MilSims.

MilSims gets things a lot quicker, and generally cheaper as well (even after P&H). Sometimes the corners get dinged in transit though. I just picked up MM2 off them for $55 and it had a slight bit of cover damage (probably wouldn't bother anyone - I just like to keep my things in as near-perfect condition as I can). Their delivery times and service is very prompt - I would recommend them as the quickest and most reliable source of gaming material if you don't live (or work!) near a store.

I head down to GP if I am not in a hurry to get something.

Thanks again for the advice guys!

So has anybody seen "Oathbound" or "HoHF" at GP or Tin Soldier? I'm trying to see if work will unlock the chains attached to my chair so I can scoot out to the shops for 10 minutes today...

And if you're in the shops and you see an asian guy with a red runny nose feel free to say hi! (Actually just wave...I've lost my voice cause of the flu... :( )

tho... its kinda a wierd shop and i've had really good and really bad experiences with staff there, including good and bad with a couple of people...
Can't say that I've ever had a problem with them, but they clearly don't "get" technology. No EFTPOS facility at their RPG counter? What the hell is that? And a while back they forwarded one of those lame bogus virus warnings to everyone in their address book - which happened to include any customer who happened to have emailed an enquiry to them.

and i missed the sale through lack of cash...
I didn't :D Took about 30 minutes to get from the front door to the RPG section, then another 15 minutes or more to get served. Managed to grab their last copy of "The Book of the Righteous". Which was lucky seeing as that was my sole purpose in going to the sale

In Reference to Mind Games

My Brother used to Manage the Store in Sydney when it Existed, and I used to help him out sometimes when i lived down there,

MY MY, we all have a Stereotyped view of Gamers , But believe me its all TRUE :D

Hopes no one From ENworld ;) was one of those Geeks

The Staff of Mind Games Melb used to be really good, things musy have changed

MIndgames

Mindgames - Swanston St - Melbourne. But I don't buy much of anything of late. Things are V.V. Expensive, mainly because of the state of the dollar.
Is Milsims much cheaper?

I picked up my core rule books from Alternate Worlds in Melbourne. They're pretty good, and have lots of other stuff. They're near/on Chapel st... near Windsor Station, that's how I normally get there.

I live in Ballarat and there's a store there, Game's Cove or something, but I got my grid-mat from them. These sorts of shops don't tend to last all that long in this town, but this one's been here at least a year, which is a record.

That Mil Sims site isn't bad either.
